Red Bulls midfielder Seth Stammer has presented scholarship certificates to the 49 winners of academic scholarships from his charitable organization Sporting Chance Foundation to students ranging in age from 5-15 years-old in Port au Prince, Haiti. Each student received a tuition scholarship to an advanced school in the Haitian capital.
The presentations were made at the Ecole Classique et Professionalle Sainte Marie, where the first class of 34 students spend all day in a 12 x 14 classroom with wooden row desks that seat four. Each student received their certificates of achievement, as well as a backpack and school supplies from the Voila Foundation.
Stammler then met with the 15 accelerated program scholarship winners. These students attend advanced schools throughout Port au Prince and had to take an exam to be selected. They also received a Sporting Chance Foundation T-shirt that included the SCF logo on the front and Stammler's name and number from his Red Bulls jersey on the back.
Stammler and Sporting Chance Foundation Thursday will head to the water well, built by the foundation, which provides potable water to more than 10,000 Haitian residents.
